Default Cartek looking to hit 10.6 with bolt ons

I posted this in the lounge, but maybe this is a better place for it as I have not had any responses in the lounge.

I just got my High Performance Pontiac Mag in the mail. There is a article about a Cartek project Trans Am with bolt ons that dynoed at 441 RWHP naturally aspirated stock cubes. This is a direct quoate from the magazine

"The final product looks completely stock, right down to the mass air meter. This Firebird weighs 3350 pounds in race trim (without driver) and Cartek is looking for 10.60 ETs at over 125 mph with its cam and head package with an automatic transmission. Dave Busch's prototype for this package has already gone 10.80 @ 123 mph and is making 35 RWHP less than the latest version in our subject vehicle."

My question is what is the Dave Busch prototype they are talking about? I didn't know Cartek had a car that ran in the 10's NA with bolt ons and stock cubes.

Did anybody else see this article?

I thought Dave's car went 10.98, and it wasn't a bolt on car. It was heads/cam car. If Cartek has a 10.80 Trans Am out there, we haven't seen it on this board.

Maybe the mag misquoted them on the bolt on thing. But I still don't think Cartek has a 10.80 @ 123 mph H/C F-Body. Maybe Julio can clarify.

JS's car dynoed 441RWHP and has heads/cam and A4 but doesnt weight 3300pounds.

Not sure what is up with that, I am SURE we would have heard about it if a HCI car did run 10.6 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
cheers,

Its my car.
The goal we have for the setup is 10.60's@123.
IMO it'll have to be a lighter guy in the car and run in good fall DA's for that to happen.

The car has a 10.9? NOW with me(344lbs)driving.
Truthfully though I need to get the car down to 3400 with driver for a crack at 10.6.I hope to get it to 3500 with ME in it by next week so yes 3400 should attainable with a 200lb driver.

Stay tuned....

I had not heard of it before.

Joel, the reason guys are putting up the BS flag is not due to your goals for the car. It's that Cartek told them they already went 10.80 @ 123 with the same setup. If they're referring to Dave last year, the time was 10.98 @ 122.x, I believe. Almost 2/10's is rather significant at those levels...........I have to agree the article is misleading and probably needs a correction to be accurate.

On top of all that, the term bolt-on is being used, which is usually not associated with internal engine work.
