Default Rims or finish nitrous install?

Alright, here's the deal.

I've been preparing for my nitrous install (about $250 worth of stuff to get still), but I just came across a good deal on some silver y2k C5 wheels/tires.

Front 17 x 8.5 with 245/45ZR17 Goodyear F1's-- a few thousand left in em.
Rear 18 x 9.5 with 275/40ZR18 Goodyear F1's --almost new

I can get the setup for $700 (how does this price sound)

Should I put the nitrous install on hold, and go for the rims or just finish the nitrous.

I would get the wheel's because what if you get the NOS and you blow something on your motor your car will be sitting till you pay more money to get it fixed. With the wheel's it will look good. After you get the wheel's then you can get the NOS. Becasue if you blow something you can sit and admire your car and wheel's till you get it fixed. This is my opinion but it's your choice.

it think it comes down to what YOU want...

Wheels may look good but you will have a performance decrease if your current rims and tires are lighter.. You will also be paying alot more for new tires in the near future and that in itself will hurt your plans for SPRAY..

I would get the wheels only if I knew I could turn around and sell them for a decent profit.

Right now I have the Z28 Stockers.. The C5 wheels would be a huge improvement over those bad boys.

I'm just confused.. Not sure on the rims..

How much more of a weight difference will there be between these two sets of wheels?

If not sure... Go with the spray. You wont be disappointed. plus why start a job and not finish it. Go with the spray and save a bit more and get what YOU WANT! Goodluck.

I'm just gonna go ahead and finish the Wet Kit install...

Buying the NX GEN XII kit so that I can complete the install. I'm also just gonna get a pair of BFG G-Force tires so that the car will hook up on the street with the spray.

I'm gonna wait and get a set of rims that I want, and not just settle for what's available to me. I know there will be a larger selection in CA...

Thanks for the help guys..

the stock Z28's are great! 16" wheels are awesome! Dont discount them just because so many get 17"+ wheels.

You can get a decent set of tires for $500 Installed on a 16" set of wheels..
You can get Drag Radials for when the spray is used at the track..
Your rotating mass will be lower and you will get more use out of the power that the car has since it doesnt have to spin larger heavier rims and tires.

While I too like the looks of the Y2K rims, I have yet to get them because they dont fall inline with my personal goals for my car.

What I do own is:
2 - 16" firebird wheels with BFG DR
2 - 16" 99 Z28 silver wheels with Nitto DR
2 ET Streets Unmounted.

I can get wheels and tires almost at whim but I choose to get only what I know I will USE not what I think looks best..

I also have: 3 pt strut tower brace, LCA, panhard rods, Lid, Filters... Sure there is more laying around.. I just wont install any of it until my PERSONAL goals are met.. but thats me.. and I am different.. As you are you and you too are different.. Stick with what makes you happy.. thats worth more than anything else in life.
