Default Oil pressure prob fixed!!

Well after my cam install on Saturday I had really low oil pressure. After reading some info here on the board I realized it was the O-ring on the pickup tube, so I went in and fixed it last night. When we took the tube out - it was unbelieveable. There was only like 1/2 of the o-ring left - the other part came out in my oil filter when I changed the oil. When we first did the install the 0-ring seemed to be intact, but oh well. Put the new one on and the oil pressure shot up to the normal levels. Needless to say I was relieved. Now its time to tune it with the stock manifolds, until I get my new headers.

Been there.. The oil pressure on my car was fine after swapping cams, just a little low when cold. It wasnt until I read the GM bulletin about the pinched o-rings that got me thinking. My valvetrain was always louder then I thought it should be. Plus after 30 dyno pulls, 2000 hard miles, trip to the dragstrip and it didnt blow up I figured the o-ring had to be ok, right? Wrong, paranoia got the best of me and this is what I found, I was so careful putting it in straight, bla bla.. Anyhow, at least the valvetrain is quiet now

They are pretty cheap - I think like $1 even at dealer prices. My local dealer had a ton of them in stock, and they typically have to order every part I ever need - so I'm guessing they are pretty common.

Mine looked worse than that. Half of it was just gone.

Thanks for the info. I plan on doing changing the cam this weekend. This will save some potential headaches.

dug - I would highly sugest getting a few of them in case they tear during your install. The oil pump is a serious PITA sometimes and it would suck to cut the only one you had and have to wait to get your car put back together. It wasn't fun taking mine apart again, I'll tell you that.
