Re: Drag radials
I'm going to disagree with my good buddy - BFG's are a much better drag racing tire. Attend any race in which you are required to run radial tires and see what the top guys are using - all of them. I race NMRA F/S, and it is just such a class. Every single racer that even has a prayer of getting in the top half of the field uses BFG's - every one. There's a good reason for that - they work better. And believe me, we all heat the HELL out of our tires.
Example...the guy that won the F/S points in 2000 was given a sponsorship by Nitto - which required him to run them at the track. He changed for the last race of the year simply because he couldn't get the traction he needed on the Nitto's.
Another example...I've been offered Nitto's by an independent dealer for the year, and I politely declined.
It's not such a big deal with an automatic car, as they typically don't hit the tires as hard...but for a stick, it is VERY important.
That said...Nitto's can be made to work well, and are certainly better than 'normal' radials. Additionally, if you're looking for a full-time street tire, I wouldn't even consider the BFG's - they suck in the rain, and will only last a few thousand miles.
But on the track...they can't be beat. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: Drag radials
Nittos <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> BFG's are NO better as long as you heat the nittos right!!
Plus you get 10-15k miles outta nittos
only 3-5k outta BFG's!!
bfg'S SUCK in Rain, Nittos do awesome!!
The majority of guys run BFG's on M6's and nittos or BFG's on A4's
No matter what anyone says Nittos are Just as good if not better on the track!
Its a few guys cutting 1.55-56's on 245/50/16's!!
Thats my goal this fall <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
