Another new best Wednesday night
I've been busy trying to chase down an electrical problem in the car and just now got around to posting this...
I took the car out Wednesday to test out a new converter I have "on loan" to me, since I broke my trusty JW "J-stator" 10" converter last week. This one is a JW 8" converter, rated @ 5500rpm. It seems to work really well so far, but hits really soft off the line, unlike the old one. The 60' times are suffering a bit due to this, but everything else is improved over the old 10".
The best run of the night broke down like this:
60' 1.453
330' 4.231
1/8th 6.567
1/8mph 104.96
1000' 8.589
1/4 10.306
MPH 131.08
The weather felt a little better, but all the Saturday racers that were there were running about the same as they had the previous Saturday.
I'm going to give this converter a little more time and make sure it's broken in completely (JW converters do seem to change a bit over the 1st 20 passes or so), and then possibly see if they can make a change to the stator to have it hit a little harder, but remain the way it is everywhere but on the initial launch... The soft hit is pretty nice, as it will be easy to launch the car at nearly any level of track prep, but I have to think the car would pick up a bit more if I get the 60's back in the 1.37-1.38 range that they were in before...
I still have lots of tuning on the car, and I do feel I can find some more ET in this nasty summertime air. Right now I couldn't be more pleased with this Agostino Racing motor, and I know there's still better things to come!
I'm heading up to Douglas, GA tomorrow morning for some 1/8th mile bracket racing action. This will be the first "racing" I've done since putting the car back together, and I'm looking forward to going a few rounds!

What are the dates again? There is an NHRA divisional race in Orlando in October (I'm going to run S/ST), and Super Chevy in Gainesville that month as well. It's gonna be hard to do everything, but I'll try!

I'm pretty rusty, as I haven't raced since last December. I think the car's ready, but I don't know if I am or not! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: Another new best Wednesday night
Is your motor still sucking water? Looks like it is going to potentially go 9s when the weather gets better. That's amazing for a little 388. Awesome job George.

Re: Another new best Wednesday night
Thanks guys!
No, the motor isn't losing anymore coolant. My guess is that either it just needed a few heat cycles, or the Bar's Leak sealer I used worked. In any case, it's fine now.
It does use a lot of fuel, though <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: Another new best Wednesday night
Hey George, I am glad to see you runnig good with the car!! Keep up the great work and I am sure there are a few 10ths left in there.
It is actually a 382 and not a 388, no biggie; stock crank with a 4.100 bore. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Re: Another new best Wednesday night
I may look into Coan or Neal Chance sometime in the future... For now I have to stick with what I have, as $$$ won't allow me any new toys right now...
