Default Lighten up the Z

I don`t know if I am posting this question in the right section but I am intrested in doing some bolt offs. I want to lighten up my Z28. I know that alot of people talk crazy about people who remove their bumper braces but I am instred in doing this. Dose anyone know about how much the bumper foam and braces weigh and do I need to do somthing about my air bags because I am messing with the bumpers? I also want to know if anyone has removed the braces in the doors. Do I need to cut the door braces out or do they bolt out? And how much do they weigh? Any other weight savers would be appreciated, this car is a daily driver so I need to keep my seats and A/C. I`ll propaply get some nasty responces about removing safty related stuff to save on weight but removing only 10 pounds is equivalent to adding about 1 hp to your motor. (Thats why we always go to the track on a 1/4 tank of fule) Thanks for any responces and help.

Try this link https://ls1tech.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...5;t=000021;p=1 it should help you out a lot. It lists what you can remove and for most things what they weigh. Hope this helps.

That bumper foam is super heavy and should be the first thing to go! Tires are also heavy, I suggest getting some 14' wheels and 185/65/14 tires.

Will I have to worry about the air bags when I remove the bumper foam?

Just disconnect the battery... then remove it. I suggest taking the metal bumper with it... the foam isn't that heavy by it's self.

Moving to Drag Racing section.

Bumper and foam are about 19 Lbs.
There is nothing connected to the bumper for the air bag. Disconnect the battery anyway to be safe. Take off the sway bar and washer bottle too. That's all free. If you want to spend about $80 bucks (shipped), get a Hawker battery. It's only is about 10 lbs. These four things combined are worth over 50 lbs.
