Default Tire size Q&A- converting from 16 to 15's

Ok guys... I really want to stick with nittos here but I would like a wider tire maybe to help any traction wise. Keep in mind i cut a 1.58 stock internally on the ones i have now, so i can make them hook.

Question is can i go to 15's and get a wider tire simliar to the size i run now? Im not sure how to break down tire sizes with gear ratios and rim sizes but this is what i run now

3.23's
245/50/16 nitto drag
16x9 drag light XP

can i get a 15inch that will give me a wider traction patch, and egual out to the sixe i have no without changing much(helping instead). I just dont want to hurt RPM's to the traps in anyway. If any 15inch would help feel free to explain.

why do i wanna stick with nittos??? frankly so i wont have to switch tires to go out 24/7(just personal matters) I'l just have to live with being 2 or more tenths slower I guess

i personally hated my 245/50/16 nittos but LOVE the 275/50/15 nittos. they hook so much better due to the bigger sidewall and are the exact overall size (i still have both and are 25.75" tires).

you will be real happy, but i cant imagine you hooking much better, way to go!

But with the little cam i threw in its hard for me to figure the launch out again+ its been 4 months since Ive ran the car really. Ill figure the launch out again, but i'd like to have a wider tire under her when i do

best with cam has been a 1.64 and 1.65 only made 3 passes with it though

i may look at just some rear bogarts but they are pricey. Regardless ill probably stick to drag radials

Like gator said, a 275/50/15 would be nearly the same exact overall height, but give you some extra tread width on the ground, and more sidewall.

well if you are just running nittos, i dont think there is that much of a differnce in spreading the footprint much more (with the wider wheel). it will add some weight too with the larger wheel. if you were to go with a bigger slick, go for the wider wheels, otherwise, dont think it is worth it since the 275 DR tires are not that wide to need a 10" wide rim.

I was amazed to see how much of a difference the 275/50/15 Nitto made over the 245/50/16 Nitto. You can even see the wrinkles in the armour all on the sidewalls of the 15's after a few runs. Never saw that with the 16's. Also noticed that when the 16's would spin,it would also wheel hop. The 15's don't wheel hop when they spin. I'm using a 15 x 8 Draglite. Don't see a need to go wider.
Went to the track with the 15's and already got a new best 60 ft of 1.71 despite VERY hot & humid weather. Was way down in power because of the heat compared to my previous best 60 ft. I expect to see a mid 1.6 60 ft when the weather finally cools off down here in S. Florida.
I'm real happy with the 15's.
