3rd Gen rear in 4th Gen
I am wanting to get some weld alumastars for the rear of my car wich are 15x10 with 5in back spacing. I was told that i need 7in for one of are cars. Ok the 3rd gen is 2in shorter on each side correct? I am planing on getting a ford 9in so why couldnt i just get one for a 3rd gen and stick it in my car. Any input would be nice. Or comments

3rd gen rear is a pretty weak unit , i'm putting a posi/disc brake unit from an '87 IROC-Z in my '89 RS 'vert for the LS1/T56 swap but i was told by several other dudes that if i run slicks or street drags, i'll kill it pretty quick , better off with a Moser or 9".

oh ok , i feel ya , i was wondering why the hell anyone in their right mind would want to put a 3rd gen rear in a fourth gen just to fit bigger tires. you're right the 3rd gen dimensions are shorter than a 4th gen by 2 inches each side.
