Rearend Short on Fluid
Rear Howling
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rear started howling and a light metal to metal chaffing sound is present in the rear. I put the rear up on Rhino ramps and pulled the fill plug. Stuck my pinky in the fill hole and couldn't feel fluid. This is with the rear end only in the air. The front is on the ground. I assume I should feel fluid????? The axle tubes and the diff is wet. Not dripping, but wet. Never has any drips on the garage floor. I want to refill the diff for now. What fluid should I put in the diff and how much.
How much damage could have been done? If this doesn't fix the howling for the time being a Moser with 4.11's might be in the works
