Default Traction problems, time for a tire change??

I went to a local track last night which usually hooks very well, but I couldn't 60' for ****.
My best 60' of the night was 1.81.
I have 26x8.5x15 MT ET Drags mounted on 15x7.5 Convo pro's.
I bought the drag's used, and I have cut a 1.68 on them spinning, but lately I haven't been able to hook on them. Could they just be old? I don't think they are though, I bought them from Mike Hoffpauir with not many passes on them and they still have plenty of tread, but they don't feel as soft as they once did.
I know I need a linelock, because I can never get the tires to smoke much at all before the car starts drifting sideways.
Any tips on burnouts without a linelock?
What tires should I switch to if I sell these? I am thinking of getting wider rims also and switching to ET streets so I will be able to street race with traction.

spend the 100$, get the line locks and roast them hides. I used too have the same problems with the same tire combo untill i got the SLP kit. 1.80 60 ft are now 1.65 - 1.70 60 fts with a good burnout same tires, same size rims.
