Which Cam for 383 LS1 in a truck?
Okay guys i'm in the process of building up a 383 stroker motor out of a ls1 block and was wondering what the best Heads/ cam combo would be. I will probably just use stock ls1 heads for the time being or my old 5.3 heads off my truck. I will be using probably around a 3400 stall with a 4l80e. will be shoting up to a 300 shot of nitrous at times, at least 200.
What cam would be best for this motor in a truck running nitrous at the 1/4 dragstrip?
Also do you guys know a place that sells 4" stroker cranks for cheap??? need a crank still

don't use the 5.3 heads if they r stock, intake valve is too small... i'd try something like a 224/230 on a 114, maybe even mti's new G1, i wouldn't go too big on a truck... y a 4l80e?? very heavy trans...

Well that cam sounds like a good starting point. The reason i was going with a 4l80e is becuase some much of the truck guys have problems with the 60e. If i were to keep the 60e do you think it would hold up to the motor. When it finally does go, will a built one be able to handle it? I guess i will pony up and buy some stgII or III heads then. bummer more money
