Raced a new C6!!!
In the '98. It was Yellow, and the first one that I have seen. He got behind me, and I wanted to race to see what the almighty LS-2 had to offer, so I threw him a rev. He did the same back at me. He got back next to me, and we raced from a dig. We went from a dig, and ended up at about 2 cars behind him at 125 or so. He honked, and gave me a thumbs up, and I did the same.
I like these cars, and am proud to have raced one. BTW- It was NOT the '67. That would be a different story.
C6>LS1.
Good times!!!

Wow, didn't know the C6's were on the road already. Nice death.
Btw, "Z06Killer", seems out of place. Your 98 Camaro won't touch a Z06 and your 67 Camaro is about even with a Z06. Just something I found interesting...

I dont think that they are really on the road yet. I dont doubt that you saw and raced one though. To my knowledge most dealerships have at lease one or two in their possesion right now. So more than likely it was a dealership owner who took the car for himself. I could be wrong though.
Good run though man,

I've seen the reports on stock c5's running in the 12's, hell gmhtp supposedly got a 1998 ws-6 m6 to run a 12.98 bone stock, but I've yet to see these types of results "in real life" Hell, I've seen stock z06 vette's have a hard time getting into the 12's, I ran one at hemming's day at lvd this spring, he had a 12.87 dial in on his window, and ran a 13.15 the run against me. Still beat me because I am by no means a bracket racer, but it goes to show that guys that say that they can do this or that probably have, once out of 200 passes. Those magazines forget to tell you about a 20 mph tail wind, race gas, etc. etc.

I was suprised to see one too, but I was in Florence, which is like car dealership city. That may have been a fluke on my only being two cars back, but fun nonetheless. As far as my screen name, that comes from about 3 years ago when I beat an '01 twice at the local dragstrip (Edgewater). I know that Z's are capable of much more, especially when modded, but like I said I beat the one at the track twice and had to hang my hat on that. That was when I was running mid 12.s, and now I'm about a second quicker, so take that as you will. A year or so from now I'm planning on a Dart block, TrickFlow 23 degree heads, and a Sporstsman Fogger kit. Then it should be the norm for the '67 to kill Zo6s, not just a once in a while happening.

Cool encounter. I've seen a bunch of C6's on the road, but I've never had the opportunity for a race. I'm guessin they are good for 11.90's at 116-117mph with a good driver. That is insane for a bone stock car.

Nice death on the C6
By 2 car lengths sounds very good on your part in a 98' and basically stock.
But, I do not see 11's stock in the C6 this year.
LS2>LS1 but not by much

Some stock Z06's have gone 11.7's. Minus the airbox lid 11.60
As for the new C6 basically the same HP as the current Z06 (400 vs 405), and way more (20-30lb ft) torque, so I expect it to be on par if not better than the Z06, especially in the Z51 package car that ships with the m12 transmission. The car weighs just a bit more than the Z06, but the torque should offset that. I'm guessing its going to be up to the driver, but on paper the c6 looks to be ahead.
The new Z06, well, thats going to be on a whole other level....
