I have the same question. That cover above the oil filter can be used to hook up a oil temp guage, but I'm wondering if the oil pressure sender can be used there also. Check this site out, it has the write up for a temp guage:

Oil temp and oil pressure, it doesn't make a difference. Both need to be put in the block or oil filter adapter. One will only read the temp, while the other will read the pressure. I assume that article only mentions oil temp because our cars already come with an oil pressure sender and gauge. I don't know the electrical specs, but you might also be able to tap the factory oil pressure sender and wire that to the autometer gauge as another option.

I tapped oil pressure in an adaptor I bought at LG Motorsports that routes oil to a cooler.
For oil temperature, I removed the oil level sensor out of the pan in front of the starter. Built an adaptor and installed the sending unit in the level sesnors place.
So, pressure is right off the pump and temps are from the pan.
