Gears are gears. It's all on how they're setup on the install.

Setup is important but your missing something a little more important...hardness.

There is actually quite a big difference in the metal content of various gears and for what application they are designed for. For street strip appslications a harder, higher steel content gear is recommended. For serious drag racing you want to use a gear with less hardness so that it will absorb some of teh shock and not shatter under load. 8620 steel, 9310 steel, etc.

True, there are differences.

But IMO, unless you campaign a car for a season at the track, gears are gears and you can't go wrong with most the stuff offered by the sponsors---->

I have richmonds and have put them in a few cars of my own. I only had one go loud and that was my first and I did zero break in. I did burn out and was on the floor leaving the driveway.
