Vig.3800 Exactly how do they work?
Hello, im new to stalls but exactly what does a stall do, I know its something about locking or something like that, but could somoene please explain to me? Thanks and sorry for such a dumb question.

A high stall converter allow the engine to rev to the higher rpms where it makes more torque and hp. Depending on how the converter is built, it can multilpy the engine torque by a factor of from 1.5 to 3 times. It helps on what is called shift extension where on the shift, the engine rpms do not drop as low as with a stock converter. The lock up part is no different than a stock converter where at cruise rpms in 3rd and OD, the converter locks up and eliminates slippage for better fuel economy. They do not lock up at WOT unless forced to manually and then the lock up clutch in the converter must be built to take the abuse of WOT lockup.

is there a way to figure out how much drop in rpm you will have during shifts by knowing the str?
i know this would depend on your shift rpm, but is there a way to figure how much drop you would have. for ex.
(not true data)
2.0 str 1500rpm drop
2.2 str 1200rpm drop
2.5 str 900rpm drop
get what im sayin? just curious on how much of a drop will occur
