Aftermarket airbag steering wheels?
Hey all,
Anyone know of any aftermarket airbag steering wheels for the f-body (trans am specifically)?
I can't stand the enormous steering wheel anymore, but I don't want to drop the airbag. I wonder if any of the other GM steering wheels will bolt up to the F-body steering column? The GTO or CTS perhaps?
If anyone has any info, I'd appreciate it.

I replaced my steering wheel with a 2004 Bonneville steering wheel . The airbag is non-functional though and the inflator was removed , the radio controls do still work though and it is ebony exactly matching the F-bodies int. color . The rim on the 04 wheel is ALOT fatter than the thin TA wheel rim and feel 100x's better . All I did to swap the new wheel on was change the upper steering shaft in my stock column to the bonneville upper shaft with the smaller metric spines for the steering wheel mounting hole .
Using the new upper shaft you can use wheels from :
2004-2005 Grand prix
2001-2003 W-body
2001-2005 Bonneville
03-05 CTS
97-04 Corvette
Your on your own with making any of those airbags work . Mines mainly a strip car so the airbags were already gutted . I cant say I would feel to comfortable about making a bag work that was originally intended to be there . You will have to splice new connectors in , as your airbag wiring wont cross with any of those at all .
Here's a pic of mine .

That is really interesting to know!
I definitely want to keep the airbag though. I'll have to ask around the dealership and some friends of mine to see if they know if it'll work.
