stall converter buying question
I am going to buy a vigilante 3200 stall, but I don't want to have to shell out 700 for a brand new one. Is it a wise idea to buy one that has been freshened up from someone on this website, or should I just tough it out and come up with 700.

Just to let yall know the converter has about 800 miles on it since the refresh. For 500 is this a good buy? Should I do it, or hold out for a new one? Money is kinda tight.

I have a buddy that has one he just sent back to get refreshed. He hasn't decided what to go with on the stall size. PM me if you want some contact info. It would have 0 miles on it

I would a used converter only from someone you know or trust. You need to know that the seller's tranny did not grenade or that the tuning was improper. The idea of buying a vig that needs a restall (when the free restall is available) is pretty good. Then you know the converter will be cut open and if there is damage, you can have it fixed before it goes in your tranny.

I can vouch for SSfirefighter. He is straight up and has been communicating with me for sometime about switching converters. I believe he has sent his off already but hasn't stated to Vig what to restall it to. Which is best to find a buyer that wants one and stall it to what they want.
Also FYI when I had my Vig 2800 restalled to a 3600 they sent me a new converter. Not sure if that is how they handle all of them but the day they received it they called me and sent one out the same day

I am just trying to restall higher in the warranty period. The tranny has a transgo, and was tuned by Chris R. with no problems at all.

I bought a vig3200 from a Tech user here for 400 with a free restall. I had it restalled before it was shipped to me. Basically it was like getting a brand new converter, new bearing, seals, lockup clutch ect, even had fresh paint I'd recommend going that route to save some cash.
