Default What size exhaust?

1999 Pontiac Trans Am LS1. What diameter is the exhaust on these cars when they are stock? On mine, the pipe running from the catalytic converter to the muffler looks bigger than the two pipes coming out of the muffler going to the tailpipes. If I made the tailpipes bigger, would that give my car more or less power. They say engines run better with some back pressure so if I put a bigger exhaust like a Flowmaster, would I be helping or hurting myself?

Thanks,

Best to look a complete catback. It will come with the I pipe and the rear exhaust tubing.
