Stg II 5.3 heads + 232/236 cam good enough for 383 Stroker?
Here's what I have in the garage waiting to be installed:
MTI Stage II 5.3 Heads: 2.02/1.60, milled .030 for 11.3:1 CR
Cam is: 232/236 .571/.578 114 +4
I want a 383 Stroker in the future and I'm wondering if these heads and cam will suffice. Will I need to upgrade to Stg III LS6 or 6.0L heads? Will I need a bigger cam? The FAST 90mm LSX intake would be installed w/ the 383. My goal is close to 470-480 rwhp. I don't know if that is looking for too much, but I would at least like to have 450 rwhp NA.

I picked up 15 rwhp and 15rwtq by just adding the intake and t/b on a stock 346 through a 12 bolt, so you should be around your numbers if you want to spend the bucks....

383 combo!
Here is the dynograph of my lunati 383 with MTI stage III LS6 heads after adding the 90mm LSX intake, FAST TB & a Meziere EWP. The lower graph was before with an LS6 intake & ported TB. I have the R1 cam (232/236 .578/.575 112) installed straight up. Hope this helps you decide what to do!....Randy

Hopefully I could put up decent numbers with the Stg. 2 5.3L heads. If anything, based on your setup, I could get away with keeping the cam and upgrading the heads. Thanks!

Thanks, I think it turned out pretty good myself!
The thing you will first notice the most will be the low-end torque pulling the car from idle on up more effortlessly than before. The second thing is that the motor won't spin up through the rpms as fast as a big cammed H/C motor.
With those 5.3 heads you'll probably see great low to mid-range hp/tq, but they may run out of flow on the top-end. That could easily be solved by changing cams to something a little more radical!....Randy
