Default Newbie question on scan tools

Looking into an LS1 purchase, and having an LT1 car and a GN, I have used scanmasters before. Is that what people use on LS1's? I like having a way to monitor my engine, whats good?

for a stand alone data logger you cant beat EFI live v6. if you want tuning capabilities as well look into HPtuner.

Sorry 'bout that. I hate being a newbie! Anyway, do either of those require a laptop? I have one for my GN, but I was hoping for something more hand held, like the power programmer. Do they make a scanmaster for LS1?
