Default C5R crate engine?

Does anyone know if there is such a thing? I was wondering if you would have to build your own, or have the chance to buy it strait out of a box?

There is no C5R crate motor as there is a lot of custom work involved in getting it to work together.

what about all of the special cars that Berger made with the C5R? was it all a custom deal done by them?

Yes. I want to say Katech built those C5R's for Berger but I'm not 100% on that.

I wish that they would let us know, b/c maybe that shop would want to step up and do orders for regular enthusiasts like us...

Don't think they really need the general LS1 crowd! Not trying to be an ***, just letting you know.

No, it's not Katech. I remember seeing it in High Perf. Pontiac or GM High Tech Perf. They mentioned it somewhere a few months back. I wish I could remember what that name was... But I do remember reading that they were not looking to build the motors for the public.

Katech has built most of the winning C5R engines. See their website and give them a call.

A complete C5R engine is going to run you 30,000-35,000 bucks. That eliminates 99.9% of prospective buyers.W2W Powertrain(sponsor)can build you one.Just make sure you're sitting down when you get the price.

Not to mention you're not gaining much other than a lighter wallet and bragging rights with a C5R

And if you ever blow your motor down the road you will be REAL sorry, whereas a normal forged bottom end isn't that big of a deal if you kill it, not that its a small thing, but most mortals can afford to replace it if they save their pennys

I don't know anything about the Berger cars but might they just have a C5R block with regular LSx top ends?

Didn't SLP used to sell a 427ci C5R 650bhp engine? I don't think it sold well, and maybe that's why they dropped it. ~$25k
