Those with HEADERS & LOUDMOUTH
I'd like to know who has headers and what kind with the loudmouth exhaust. Ive tried doing a search and theres just way too many threads to sift through to find the answer.
What has been your experience with that setup?

True on the drone. I've got a borla XR-1 on order for mine only because of the highway drone is killing my ears. I absolutely love it around town, though. I'm gonna fab up some flanges so I can swap the muffler and resonator out when I want to some time down the road...

i was wondering that exact same thing. i have loudmouth but stock manifolds/y-pipe still, and i have been planning on getting longtubes. i don't care about how loud it is; the louder the better. from what i've heard, however, the quality of the sound produced by a lt/ory/lm combination is crap. can anyone comment on this? keep in mind that volume is no issue. i don't drive my camaro that much, so the sound wouldn't bother me, as long as the quality of the sound is good.

Even with a 12" DynoMax bulet, it still sounds like crap. I'm thinking of trying the Borla XR-1, since everybody raves about it. With my Hooker LTs, Off-road Y and big can, the car sounds geat at idle and WOT, but everywhere else sux...

I have Mac mids with cats and a 3'' Y pipe going through the LM exhaust and it sounds great, the dreaded 2000RPM drone is no worse then the factory setup,it's just louder outside
If you like loud,go with the LM. It's not as loud as people say it is.The old school iron blocks are much louder. It's just a wimpy 346 cu. in. I think my lawn mower is louder.

wimpy 346 huh? thats funny. with longtubes and minus the cats the loudmouth sounds like ****. at idle its ok, but driving around its just plain ****. drone and rasp are aweful. if you havent bought the LM yet save yourself the cash and headache and buy a hooker. now that sounds awesome with lt's and no cats. although the tips are too big in my opinion.

Try replacing the resonator with a sweetthunder muffler. I replaced mine because I didn't like the exhaust note. Sounds a lot better now. I admit I still have stock manifolds and cats, but I'm just giving you another option.

The SweetThunder's 2.5 inch baffles would restrict flow in the I pipe. It'd be a bit more noticeable if you did it after having the resonator on a car with headers, though.
And BTW I changed my plan... the XR-1 had been on back order for a few weeks and I was sick of my ears hurting, so I ran some more searches and found that if you put a bullet in the driver's side tailpipe, where the stock muffler was, it gets rid of the drone. My bullet shipped out this afternoon and if it gets here on friday I'll have it on that afternoon. I'll let ya'll know how it sounds!
