Default crank problems

hey guys. i have a 71 7.4 and the only thing i didnt do was put the balancer on. i think some jackass used a hammer or somthing on it because i can now move the crank in and out about 1/32, maybe a little less. i know their isnt suposto be that much movement. and it sure wasnt like that when i tool the blancer off last season.
so what do you guys think? thrust bearing gone? not that big of a deal?

There usually is .012" allowed endplay max. You need to check it with a dail indicator. If it is out it's something w/the thrust bearing/crank. I've seen people drive with a 1/4 of endplay before, it will take its toll though.
