Default do all '98 SSs have the hurst shifter?

i need to know if 98 SS's had the hurst shifter because im going to be buying a short stick as a gift for someone and i want to make sure it will work with her shifter...
she doesnt have the "H" shift ****, just some generic looking round leather ****...so, does anyone know?

The Hurst shifter was an option on the SS and Z28 cars.

baaah...so how should i go about finding out if her's is the hurst or not?
i dont want to make it too obvious so that she'd know whats up

Hurst might be engraved down the side of the shifter but I'm not sure if they are all like that.

Take a look at the option codes on the driver side door, that would be the easiest way. Jerami has a few RPO lists on his FAQ pages, take a look there to find the code.

on the shifter itself, or just the stick? my stock hurst shift stick didnt have it...

are all the hurst shifters from 98-02 the same? if so ill just have to see if her is the same as mine...
