Oil pump > Any reason to replace on my '02?

Oil pump > Any reason to replace on my '02? I will have my 30k mile '02 LS1 in pieces for heads, cam, etc and want to know if the LS6 oil pump is actually better or if I should just port my stock pump? I'd hate to throw away $200 if my stock '02 pump is already fine.
