Default Oil pump > Any reason to replace on my '02?

I will have my 30k mile '02 LS1 in pieces for heads, cam, etc and want to know if the LS6 oil pump is actually better or if I should just port my stock pump? I'd hate to throw away $200 if my stock '02 pump is already fine.

No real reason to change it other than just doing everything right the first time. Just the piece of mind I guess. I personally left mine alone, but whatever makes you feel more comfortable.

No need at all, 01>02's have better pumps (LS6). Mine had 50K's when I put my cam in and doesn't miss a beat
