FM13 vs. TSP Torquer

FM13 vs. TSP Torquer
I can't decide between the two and would like some other opinions. The car has LT's, ORY,4.10's, ASP pulley, LS6 intake, SLP flo pac and will probably be getting a shaner billet throttle body. I drive approx. 50miles per day(highway and in traffic) and go on 300-400 mile road trips once per month. Will more than likely be doing a 100 shot. The car will see the track maybe once a month.

I'd say there's little difference between them. You're comparing a 233/233 to a 230/232. TSP's cams are comp lobes which are a little more agressive than Cam motions lobes....that's about the only MAIN difference I see.

I am interested in this too as I was considering both these. I was leaning towards the Torquer. Anyone know the difference in the low end? I don't really want a dog at low RPMs.

The Torquer is an XER grind, so it'll be tougher on your springs but it'll be stronger on the bottom end.

Either cam will result in similar output and characteristics from what I've seen posted.
If I were in the market for a cam, either of these cams would be my top choices.

Yea, these are my top choices. I've heard nothing but good things about Futral cams but the price TSP has on the torquer right now is going to be really hard to pass up.

damn right the price on the TSP Cam kit with choice of cam with springs and all the stuff is like 639 or something. thats awesome. i am considering ordering the Cam Kit with the Torquer cam the third week of Decmeber.

I made a bunch of power from my F13 and i can't say enough about Allan and his cams. Very very streetable and power is always on tap. Cam-motion lobes are easier on the valvetrain than the XeR lobes. My dynograph is in the dynomometer section, do a search and check it out.

it is well known that futral cams are insane in the "power under the curve" i'd definatly go with them...i think it is like 400 for the cam...gomer made, "i think," around 475 rwhp with this cam and patriot stage 2 "ls6 style" heads...not to mention futral is known for streetability too...i'm very suprised that no one that has responded seems to know antything about them

Here is a email got back from Trevor today. Im between the f14 and the torquer. I email TSP about the lobes on the cam,here is what he sent me back. I also emailed futral but havent heard from them so I guess its the torquer for me.

Thank you for your inquiry. Our Torquer camshafts are ground by Precision Race Components. The lobe profile is very comparable to the Comp XE-R lobes that most people are used to seeing.
Im want a little more under the curve than the 231/237 has to offer so I will be switching to the touquer cam.

So I'm also torn between these. I've been struggling with a cam search for the past three weeks. I always kept abreast of the ones I wanted to check out before I did it. I considered the G1, FM13, 228 standard from the begining, but ruled them out in favor of the Torquer but know rrevisiting, Kalijah98z dyno makes me rethink about all the power down low. I've been comparing graphs between my stock, and what ever I could find on the Torquer and FM13 for the past hour. Comparing Kalijah98z graph (which is the best I've seen) to the best torquer graph I've seen, shows it made slightly more down low at 3K , was at 400 by 4K smooth from 4-4.5K and carried it out better. Don't think I could that but it does seem like there is alot more area under the curve. Unfortunnately, I couldn't find and average F13 cam-only full bolt on graph nor any other Torque graphs. Also, why can't I find a before and after dyno for the F13. Guess I will have to make my descision to go with the FM13 by tomorrow. Works out to be 690, which still is not bad compared to ~640 at TSP. Still don't know what to do. I have my heart set on 350ftlbs by 3K with close to 410 hp peak.

If you are torn between the torquer and the f14, and have the 231/237 right now, both will get you there. but DAYUM, the f14 is layin down some insane numbers! i'd give allan a call if you get the chance and talk to him, don't write him off just b/c he hasn't emailed you back. allan spends quite a bit of his time under/in cars in his shop as he's the chief mechanic there. even candy(his wife) can help you out, she's quite knowledgable about their cams as well.
the f14 is going to give you a chunk more power under the curve vs the torquer, as its a bigger cam. not by much, but futral makes crazy power differences with a few degrees change in duration. the lobe profiles are easier than the XeR's of the torquer, but still a fast ramping cam(just not as violent). it will definitely get you where you want to be...with room to spare. this is the cam that i'll be putting in this spring if all goes well. i totally expect with full bolt ons to sail past 400rwhp with a good tune.

Here is my trade off...don't know if the thread poster has the same but.... I would rather have more torque down low and midrange than peak HP.
So if the Torquer, lets say, gave my 415hp peak @ 6.4K and 325ftlbs @ 3K but the FM13 only gave my 405hp peak @ 6.4K but 350ftlbs @ 3K, I would rather have the FM13.
Is this a safe expectation? the FM13 will give more down low without sacrificing too much up top? I know the cams are close but now I am in to the final details to make my decision. Thanks all.

The top end cam will be quicker down the strip however, as revs stay up high down the drag strip.
They're very close.
About a year ago I was in the same boat, yet it was TSP231/237 vs. TR230 in my case.
I picked one and haven't looked back since. I would have been fine with either.
