Default Need help with the heat shield and true duals

I have had true duals for a while and the heat shield that goes covers the gas tank in the rear always vibrates at certain RPMS. The sound is really loud and anoying. Can I just take the heat shield off and still be safe since the muffler is no longer directly under the gas tank? I have heard of people putting some kind of rubber pieces behind the heat shield to get rid of the noise some. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I removed all of my heat shields from the axle back. No issues at all for over 3 years.

I removed the one over the axle, passenger side simply because it was in the way of mounting my hanger. If I eventually go over the axle I may trim the bottom and put it back. I'm surprised I don't have any rattles. Course, it's only been a few days.
