Default best weather conditions to pass the sniffer

Sorry if this isnt the correct forum...

What are the best weather conditions to pass the emissions sniffer test? Warm? Cold? Dry? Humid? Rainy?

Thanks!

I would guess cold since their is more oxygen in the air and that promotes a cleaner burn....just a guess, however.....

My car has failed the sniffer test two years running.... next year NYS will switch to the OBD computer test..... I can't be more happy ...now if I could only pass this year...

I hope cold is the correct answer since it is winter in NY....

I think it would depend on your tune. Hotter is better for emmissions, so you are probably better off right in the middle of summer.

Well, Im going to try and get it pre-tested. Im going to run my tune real lean, bump up fan temps, retard the timing, and heat her up real good before I take her in. Also, the gas I use contains ethanol, but should I add some more?

Oh, and robertbartsch - if youre in NYMA, then our inspection stations should switch over apr 1, 2005.

Thanks,

take out your air filter too. i took a guys out at work and let some wind blow in there and that got it to pass, every little bit helps. also make sure u have fresh oil in the car too. what cam do you have? and what about the rest of your exhaust. do you know the limits on CO and hell i forget the others now...mine passed with no cats and LT's. also running a top end cleaner can help knock down the numbers too
