Default Question about performance chips

I need to get a stage II performance chip for my 99 SS - any reccomendations out there? I'm not looking to spend a ton... but I don't want some crap technology either. Thanks ahead of time!

LMAO. Do a search man. A long hard one before you start asking about "Performance Chips".

Depends what you're looking for .. our car's can't be "chipped" like older cars can be... w/our cars the PCM can be reflashed

There are a variety of softwares available right now to do this

Vinci Handheld programmer
Diablo Predator (another hand held unit)
HPP3 (hand held... crap)

Then you have some more powerful tuning software that lets you modify much more stuff in the PCM but you have to do the actual tuning yourself...

www.hptuners.com makes such a product amongst others

The full blown tuning software has a much higher learning curve but there's tons of info between this site and other internet resources to learn the basics

If you just want a handheld i'd go w/the diablo ro vinci units ... be careful buying them used though.. not sure how the vinci unit locks to the car, the diablo unit I believe you have to pay 50 bux or something to have it unlocked for your car... hpp3 has to be completely removed from thje previous car to work on yours... all are year specific too (all the handheld)
