Angry Disappointing Numbers

Put Absolute Speed 6.0L heads on my car along with a Comp 232/234 578/598 114LSA cam in. I also put a pulley, LS6 inake, pulled the cats and added a ported TB. Well before the car was pushing 375RWHP with the old H/C setup and now the car put down 410RWHP and 373RWTQ. It was a nice gain but Jay said I'd be more in the range of 430-440RWHP. I'm a little diappointed in the numbers. Heads have 2.055int/1.60exh valves Dual comp springs the works. They flowed 318cfm @ 600 lift. I don't understand what the problem is I think the numbers should be a bit higher. What does everyone else think?

Do you have a graph we can look at? Was that on a dynojet or a mustang dyno? How much were the heads milled? What pushrods did you use? Did you use stock lifters?

Don't have a graph just yet the car is still at Cartek. Dynojet. Don't remember how much the heads were milled. Used Stock lifters and 7.35 pushrods.

I think that the LS6 intake I have on there is not flowing enough for the 2.055 valves.

see if they can convert your chart RPM: power-Torque such as 1500 rpm 100 hp 201 tq and look at the gains acrossed the rpm band

Your numbers seem pretty good for a H/C setup with a relatively mild cam (by todays standards), IMO. There are far more 410/370 H/C cars than there are 440/400 cars. I also think the LS6 intake is flowing plenty of air for your setup, plenty of 460+ rwhp/10 sec NA cars running a LS6 intake.

2.055 valve IMO is a bit over kill for a 346 in my past experience.
I Had MTI Ls6 heads with 2.05 valves and picked up power on my
old 346 setup when I went to Eastside's LS1 heads with 2.02 valves in them...
I could be off but I think a 2.05 is too much valve for a 346...
I could be wrong this is just what I have experienced...

I don't know anymore. I'm just a little mad cause everyone told me the setup should be good for 430-450 and it made 410. I guess I just got my hopes up. I'm still going to see what Dave at Cartek thinks. I mean I remember Jay saying that the heads flowed like 300cfm through the 90mm LSX and only like 280-285 through the LS6. If that's the case I could probably see another 10-20hp by just swapping out the intake.

Makes sense...But...
All that $$$$$ for the LSX and TB spend 1/2 as much and put a little shot of spray on there and make well over 500...

No he never said if I had a stock rear end but there again I never told him I told him that I had an 8.8 rear end with 4.10's.

When I read the post I scrolled down to look at the replies and I wondered if anyone else had noticed the 2.055 valves on a 346. From what I have read and heard, this is too much, so I agree with SPRSPT

Also, the 90mm LSX may be overkill for 346 as well...
spray it!

I've ran a LOAD of different valve combo's on my car and the best power has come from the 2.055/1.60 combo. The 2.08's killed power.

I think your compression is just about 9.5:1 and that is why you are not seeing the power I bet he did not mill the heads. or if he did it was not enough. You need those milled a lot more and you pistons fly cut if you want to see the big numbers and run that cam. You ought to run about 11:1 comp. to get the numbers you want.

My last motor had almost that same cam and a set of ls6 heads and made 463rwhp/428 tq

Pure BS! My MTI LS1 Stage II heads (2.055/1.60 valves) with a puny B1 cam made 426 RWHP/400 RWTQ through mufflers and a 3.73 8.5" rear.
