Default What should I DO??

I have a 2k2 WS6 with little more than 20k miles. I have a p0430 service engine code which is a catlytic defficiency. What can I do?? I live in Chicago.

Can I call the nearest GM, Pontiac dealer, and get it fixed there. Since I heard that there is a longer warranty for emissions parts?? Is this even possible?? (Not pay)

Or

Should I go to the nears speed/LS1 shop get high flow cats and 02 sims?? (pay)

Or

Take it to a regular muffler shop and get regular cats?? (pay)

Or

Forget about it??

Emissions related stuff is covered to 100K by GM. Take it to GM for FREE, OR, ditch the stock exhaust for headers, !cats and get some 02 simms.

P0430 is most likely a bad passenger side cat. Call a dealer and get it replaced free, it's covered under the 8 yr/80K federal emissions warranty.

Shouldn't be a problem. Buddy of mine had his driver's side replaced and he has a GMMG exhaust. If you get a hassle call another dealer...and leave the code in there...they may want to verify it.

i had one cat go bad and took it back to the dealer at 44K miles, fixed under warrenty, put on the SLP LM, the other cat went bad at about 48K miles, went back to the same dealer, fixed again under warrenty, the only thing i paid for was gas driving back and forth to the dealer, and the loudmouth

If it is low cat efficency code as others above have mentioned it IS covered under a FEDERAL warranty of 8 years/80K. Just watch out for the "you need a computer flash update" which some dealers will charge you a diag fee for....even though they have a TSB for it, just a way for them to make 75-80 dollars. Sometimes the cat is good but the "puter" needs an update. I have had this on a Nissan product, but I brought the TSB courtsey of ALLDATA and paid nothing.
