Default Saw Mopar Stage 3 SRT-4 run at the track today...

I went to the track today and saw my buddy Mike run his Mopar Stage 3 SRT-4. Man was I blown away. Mopar is doing great things with this little car. Because he has Stage 2 already, the S3 costs $2500

It was about 80 degrees outside today and track elevation is 1200 ft.

His mods are:

Upgraded clutch
Mopar Stage 3
Slicks
Mopar Cat-back

He ran:

12.4 @ 114....killed a older car

12.3 @ 113....

12.2 @ 114....Killed another SRT

All on 2.0 60 fts (2.00 to 2.08).

I still can't believe he still has the stock airbox and downpipe. I'm sure if he got better 60 fts, changed the stock air box, and took out that stock 2.25 inch downpipe he would see 11.8s and 117 traps.

http://www.mopar.com/street/products_srt4_stage3.htm

I think I just found the next mod for my car

The greatest thing about all the Mopar Stage kits is that there is NO TUNING. Everything is plug and play.......

Notice that the MSPR isn't there... They can't get the stage 3s to hold together yet. My friend has an SRT-4 and is looking into the stage 2/3 upgrades. And everything he's showed me or that hes read says the Stage 3 isn't ready yet.

The SRT4 really impresses me. The turbo DSMs were the only turbo 4s to really get my blood going (I was too young for MOPARs 80s turbos). I really kinda miss my ole TSI AWD. With all these reasonable stages of performance parts backed by MOPAR its quite the performance bargain compared to the WRX (and STI) and the current EVO. Nice to see America back in the hunt! Even being FWD can't wait for the Cobalt SS/Ion RL to hit the road runnin !

Did he have the intercooler sprayer on? i think with a downpipe he might get to 12 flat hopefully...plug and play 12's what could be better? Also with S3 i heard warantee id voided this true?

and all that stuff is available on the Pt Cruiser also.
It'd be bad to get dusted by a Pt Cruiser

you know i wouldn't mind having one if they dind't look like ever other neon with a hood scoop and wing. that is there major flaw.... that and they should have just been called a srt4, and been a seperate car from the neon.. im not bashing, just saying then more ppl would really respect them and not call them skittles hehe

Neons suck!

On a side note, that those are the fastest times I've seen for a Stage 3 car besides the lightweight mopar car.

Yea, the car was on race gas and it was on DAB 3. No sure about the sprayer.

I am positive with a downpipe and upgraded intercooler he would see at least 117 traps and 11s (traction permitting). I gained 2 mph in the 1/4 with a downpipe alone. 1st weekend I ran 100 mph on all 3 of my passes, the very next weekend I ran 102 on all three of my passes with a new downpipe.

As far as warranty work, it is dependent on the dealer. Some dealerships will not cover if you change the exhaust, and some will cover the car as long as there are no major mods. I took my car in for warranty work once (axles went bad), and they never said anything about my mods. I must admit though, I honestly doubt they will cover a Stage 3 car.

Me too.....

They shaved 400 lbs off of that car and ran 12.5 @ 119 on drag radials..... On slicks it ran 11.8 @ 123.....

Only mods as far as the motor were Stage 3 and a 2.5 exhaust......

"Amazingly, all that power comes from a stock SRT-4 engine and cooling system fitted with Mopar's Stage 3R upgrade and utilizing the Stage 2 turbo toys. The only other engine mod is the side-exit 2.5-inch exhaust. That's it. Get yourself a Stage 3R, some 100-octane fuel and make 369 hp to the wheels. Don't expect the rest of the Lightweight to be so easy to duplicate."

For those who haven't seen the article........

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/fe...t02/index.html

BTW, I didn't ask him, but from what I saw, his car had no weight reductions. Only thing he may have had out was the spare/jack, otherwise I saw everything else intact.

Daaammit!!! The wife is going to kill me when I ask her if I can get this....

Maybe I can somehow throw something into my intake, and bend the fins......then act upset and explain that I need to get a new turbo....

Yea, I rode in our Chrysler reps stage 3, it spun tires something frickin stupid!! All 5 gears too. He didn't have his sprayer on nor race gas in his. The whole front end of the car would wheel hop rolling on it at like 40 or so!!
