Quick question about 5.3 heads.
let's say i go for the Patriot 5.3 heads like i'm planning, considering it bumps the compression ratio up to 10:7:1, will i still be able to run it on 91 octane and not have knocking? this thing will also have to battle 110 degree temps i face in Vegas heat this summer. should i be ok? or go with some heads that don't raise the compression?
should a tune keep it running smoothly?
should a tune keep it running smoothly?

If you are worried have the chamber coated. You can do this yourself. I did.I run pp 5.3's milled 37 thou. I run 11.5 to 11.3 to one depending on who's specs i go by. I have no probs with detonation. I got a mail order tune from tsp when my stealth 2 went in. I would get a tune if i were you. I ran my heads untuned for awhile.i was much happier after the tune. I have had to run 91 here once in awhile in heat in the mid 90's. I never have experenced any probs. Vegas isnt Canada though I run a techline coating.

A tune will be needed.
