Default Solid roller cam for 402 w/2.08 1.60 Patriot heads

I want to use a solid roller but am getting conflicting advice on spring pressures. Crane tech says they have a "street roller" that only needs 120 seat and 350 open which would work with the Patriot springs. An engine builder I know says 175 seat minimum. Any experienced advice? I am looking at 250 duration, .615 lift and 112 lsa. Will I see any power gains over a similar hydraulic? I would appreciate any help.

Listen to the engine builder. The Crane tech has to be confusing this with a hyd. roller. Power increase over a hyd roller should be around 5% to 8%. If you plan on having the engine about 6K rpm your valvetrain stability will be greatly increased with the solid.

Crane does have a 'street solid roller', their SR, with a tight lash and relatively mild dynamics. It is milder than their XE-R equivalent LS1 grinds. So, while it may work with that spring you may not get the result you want.

David

Example
SR 240@.050, 290@.015, 153@.200, .356 max lobe lift

XER equivalent HR:
HR 240@.050, 302@.004, 158@.200, .353 max lobe lift

The HRs are not listed larger than 242 for the LS1, although larger lobes may be available. The SR in 250 is:
SR 252 @.050, 302@.015, 166@.200, .374 max lobe lift

The HR with a 1.8 would have equivalent duration and lift.

From what I have learned recently, I would stick with 200-225 minimum seat pressure.
