Default HELP: gear growl

i just finished putting in a set of 3.23s and now the car growls under decelleration, as soon as i give it any bit of throttle the noise goes away, anybody have any ideas, someone last night told me im too tight, i dont know if he meant backlash is too tight or pinion shim is too big

My thoughts are back lash. if the gears get ruined, I have some GM almost new gears in 3:23 and 3:42 I will sell a set for 50.00 if you want.

Was the gears new or used if they are factory gears should set up using the same shims because they all have the same tolerances unless ya get some odd ball pair! But usually to much back lash and a bad pattern will do it!

I have a growling noise on deceleration most noticeable at higher speeds. Just had a new crown and pinion gear set and bearings installed. GM tech says it might be transmission. I am thinking that gears are not set up correctly. Has anyone heard of a a stock 6 speed tranny causing a howling noise on deceleration ? I have a stock 342 diff.
