Default Simple Question: Search not working!

Is it ok when doing a cam swap to just install a GM LS6 oil pump? Or is it a waste?

Anyone know what the part number is for this pump?

Will the LS6 oil pump be the same as the stock LS1 oil pump that is in there now?

Car has 22K miles on it. I am looking at getting the LS2 timing chain also.

Recommendations?

Thanks

i would say go with the ported ls6 unit, ls6 might be okey, but if it was my car and i was spinning it to 6500-7000 i would want to make sure everything is working at its absolute best.as for the timing chain i would reccomend the jwiss chain from thunder racing, thats what they reccomend for running all their big cam swaps.

Toss a coin.
The cam change will have no effect on your actual pump.
I kept mine but 01/02 F-bodys got the LS6 pump.
For peace of mind, yes I would change a 99 LS1 pump for at least a stock LS6. (ported would even be better).

As for the Timing Chain LS2 will be great. I have the JWISS, but that was before LS2 ones were on the market. $150 Vs $32 (LS2), well you know the answer to that.

I read a couple of threads a while ago and they insisted that the LS2 chain was fine. Also, as far as reliability for RPM ranges 6500-7000 the ported LS6 and regular LS6 wont make a difference. If the only difference is the porting then reliability wont change right (still same interenals just ported)? The only thing that will change is the flowrate of the oil.
