Default Newbie cam question...simple.

I read JRP's cam guide and it was unable to answer my question clearly. Do cams with a lower LSA number have a greater idle lope than cams with a higher LSA number. Information I have read concerning this seem contradictory, or maybe I'm confusing lobe separation angle with valve overlap (two opposites of the same thing I think )

Thanks

Its according to what kind of idle ya want 112 is rougher idle while the 114 is smoother a big split duration will make it a little coppy!

lsa is not the only thing that determines "lope"...although with typical off the shelf cams a lower lsa will "lope" harder...i don't know if you will find it with a search but there is a thread with a formula on how hard your cam will "lope" it has to do with duration and lsa...

It's really valve overlap that makes cams lope, and LSA is one factor in determining overlap. If you have two cams that are identical in every respect except LSA, the one with a smaller LSA will have more lope.

Look at http://ls1howto.com/ on the cam install part it gives a graph and goes through all the specs and what they do and what they affect>
