racing question
so here it is. i 2 cars of equal weight, dimensions, tire, etc. but one has 450/450 at the wheels and the other had 450/400 at the wheels. now, the car with the even numbers has a manual and the 450/400 car has a nicley stalled auto...who would win? i honestly dont knw because if geared right the manual car...gear perfectly so every time u shifted it would drop from right after peak hp to maybe 100 or less rpm below peak torque... it would be a close race. reason being the manual car has more torque on demand at each shift than the auto car does, the one advantage the auto has is stalling at the line will produce up to 2 times the torque than the manual car at launch. so the question remains... who wins?

For the sake of entertainment, I would go with the Auto. Why? Because from what I see, the Auto's tend Dyno a little lower on both HP and TQ then Manuals, but they tend to perform same or better. So, all else being equal, gearing etc, I pick Auto.

keep in mind an auto also chews up more hp than a manual, but no clutch work involved when changing gears. I'd prefer the auto as well for racing, but just my $.02
