Default Wheel guys and Paint and Body Guys..need some help here

Finally got my last two new Privats in and one of the centerpieces was cracked slightly and let the spring clip loose in the box. It hung on the lip of the wheel and evidently road there for the entire shipping process. It gouged the wheel slightly and scratched up the clearcoat badly. They don't have any more wheels available and I was wondering if there was a simple sand, polish and re-clearcoat process that I could do to make the wheel look good again without waiting 2 months for a new one. I called Konig wheels and they said that I should be able to polish it out and then respray clear over it with no problem. Can an amateur make this look right or should I just wait for a new wheel? What kind of work am I looking at here?

I think you are stuck . . . either accept the damage and fix it your self, with some touch up or, get a new wheel . . .

An amateur will not be able to make it look right, let alone make it last a long time. The manufacturer needs to stand up and send you a new wheel when it comes available, then let you return that one.

I'm sure they will, I just hate having these damn wheels in my living room and not on my car.
