Default questions about manually locking converter

I recently hooked up a manual lock up switch on my 99z. I live about 7 mins from my work. the car barely gets warm enough to lock up the converter by the time i get to work. is it ok to manually lock it up before its reached the temperature that the computer will allow it to lock up? Its been really helping with gas milage being able to manually lock it up with my high stall converter. I go to and from work twice a day...cuz i go home for lunch....and this seems to help a lot on gas milage....but i dont want to be hurting anything.

another thing i noticed about manually locking it. if i once manually lock it....then unlock it....the computer will then never lock it up. i would have to turn the car off then back on for the computer to take control of the lock up again. is this normal?

thanks
