Default Intank fuel pump question on plumbing

I am installing a intank fuel pump Holly 225 lph. Have a few questions on what to do with the small line that comes off of the orginal pump that runs to the bottom of the housing. It looks to be a by pass line that is connected to the top of the orginal pump. But the holly pump dose not have the fitting-attatch point. What is done with the smal line going to the bottom of the housing.?

The other question I have is that the pump dose not fit as tight as the orginal in the rubber holder. Is this a problem? Worried about the pick up screen not staying in place.
