Default ATTN: patman Syntec 5W40

Went into the zone to get some syntec 0W30, then noticed some syntec 5W40 "made in belgium" (as I remember talking to the castrol engineer i'm pretty sure he said 0W30 was actually made in Belgium.) Its also ACEA A3 rated oil. If its same as Castrol Formula R it should be 12.9 cSt.

So is this the real stuff? same as 0W30. Recommend it for gen III motors.

The 5w40 Belgian Castrol is supposed to be pretty good stuff, it should be a good choice for the LS1.

I have not kept up on the castroil 0w30 disappearance delima since last year. Since then it is kept in stock regularly at my autozone, and the one down the road with the shorter oil rack has had 0w30 reappear this Fall. I'll have to keep my eye open for Belgian oil but for now I've been very happy with the German stuff.

You two St. Louis boys are nuts. I told you I would get you the Amsoil hookup, and you wouldn't have to drive all over looking for oil. It will drop ship to your door.
