ls1 rear in lt1?
im going to being swapping out my rear end soon. I have a 97 formula it has ABS and TCS. The rear end i gonna get is from a LS1 car. the rear has the calipers and brakes on it too. What would i need to due inorder to make this a clean swap. I heard the ls1 brakes are different then the lt1. would i also be ok with the lt1 brakes up front still and the ls1 brakes out back. I know most of the braking comes from the front but i cant afford to the front brake conversion yet. Gotta tackle one thing at a time. Can anyone give me some advice. Thanks

brakes
i put 00 rear end in my 95 Z28. I bought LS1 brakes because the backing plates are different so if you do want to keep your Lt1 set up you must switch the backing plates. Also the parking brake is different so you will have to get LS1 parking brake cables. The one good thing for you is you already have a 4 channel rear so you don't have to splice any wires or not have ABS at all.

I swapped a 94 rear into my 99 and I ended up having to swap axles too. I was trying to keep my LS1 brakes and the axles actually make the rotors rub the calipers. I would imagine as long as you keep the factory brakes there should be no problems. In the end it did not really matter because I kept breaking 10 bolts so I went with a 9".

if u swap the whole rear with calipers and rotors all you will need to do is change the parking brake cables to the backing plates. that simple and u have better rear brakes and a rear.done it from a 99 trans am to a 95 camaro,
