Another TH350 or TH400 thread
I've used the search function but I wasn't able to find answers to some of my questions. Also, most of the threads asking this very same question did not get many replies.
So I'm sorry to ask this question again but I'm having trouble deciding between a TH350 or TH400. My raceweight is just under 3300 lbs. I'll be cam only for the rest of this season with 4.10 gears and 27" tires.
First of all, I want to use a 8" converter with a 5000 RPM flash. Will this even work with a TH400?
Secondly, is it true the TH350 will have to be rebuilt every year?!?
Finally, how much ET will I lose if I go with a TH400 with aluminum drums versus a TH350?
Please give me your opinions.

TCI has aluminum drums for both the 350 and the 400. keep in mind that the sealing rings run on the aluminum and will have permature wear. now if you only use the car on the track don't worry.

Yes it will work in a TH350, TH400 or 'glide

FWIW TH350 Transbrake going in my setup. You do realize that this car is going to suck *** on the highway right?

Thank you for answering my questions Floyd.
I realize the car is going to suck on the highway but I can tolerate it. I am going with a TH350 with T-Brake and a 5000 stall 8" converter. Which brand I'm not sure yet. I contacted Madman for the install kit (crossmember, dipstick tube, etc.).
Any recommendations on which brand converter to go with? I am leaning towards ATI right now.

Derrick no problem at all.
ATI is a top notch brand and you can't go wrong with them. Madman knows his stuff when it comes to putting a TH350/TH400 tranny in these cars. You could probably ask him about the Trans King torque converters. When I talked to Rossler he seemed to reccomend TCI, so that is probably what I'm going to go with.
Good luck with the new setup it should be very impressive.
