Getting closer. Not much left to get to get the shortblock under way.
Diamond 3.905, +10cc dome, 2cc valve reliefs, forged.
With a 58cc combustion chamber, GM graphite gasket and this piston it will bring the compression ratio to 14.0:1

14:1?! Damn Boyce, those are purdy! But your going to need to upgrade your starter motor too. Or get someone to dial the cranking timing down to 5 deg. What cam are you going with?

When it comes to a starter I am just going to get a "trunk monkey". When it comes time to start the car he will get out of the trunk with his big cranking bar, slide it through the grill, lock it on the crank and begin turning. Then I can yell "CONTACT" and throw the ignition switch. That way I wouldnt need the dead weight of the starter. Not only that but manderin spider monkeys are at a 5 year low right now, so I can pick up 5 or 6 of them and keep them in storage and bring them out as needed and one of them in the trunk is only about 3lbs. Wanted to go the orangatang route but they had the "BIG BORE ONLY" disclaimer on them.
Cam is the grand am cup cam 243/256 572/572 110LSA +0. I am going to run some 1:8 rockers on it to bring the "lift" up a bit more. Its probably going to be a bit on the choppy side.

Hey Boyce, have you thought of running a carb on that thing instead of injected?
I read an article in Super Rod that showed dyno sheets and the carbed version out performed the injected version by ~30hp. All on the top end of course. The injected version was better under the curve. But you are all top end power anyway.

Thought about it but dont want to go into the big time $'s with all of the fancy tuning and fuel managment stuff. I would REALLY like to go the velocity stack route but the aussies have the market cornered on that and they WONT work with anyone here in the states. I have tried more times than I can count to get ahold of those boys over there and they just dont seem all that cooperative. One guy did send me a link to a site there and it was about 6g's for the set up

It is alive!!
14:1 holy crap. that will sound so bad *** from the boom tube.
Oh Hey, congrats on the new addition!! Looks like A bottle of Scotch is in order asap.
Actually I think you can get into it for ~a grand. You still use your injectors but carb takes over the air management. MSD makes a plug in controller for the fuel and timing stuff as does edelbrock.

The MSD system is limited to 3 different curves if I remember right. I will need more adjustablity than that (I am guessing) because of the various altitudes we run at.
Those coil packs are nice but 80.00 a whack x 8. I dont know if 640.00 is worth the gain your going to get from them.

Yeah, the mile high altitude would be a bitch to tune for a carbed set up.
Damn, I didn't look at the prices of the individual coils. What a joke.
Velocity stacks would be awesome. So you'd have 8 seperate throttle bodies correct?

I don't really think you'll have a problem with the starter. Your static compression ratio will be high, but with the large duration and overlap of the cam, it will bleed off the pressure and I suspect your stock starter may be able to handle it. Of course if not, the monkey will definatly work.
I would also train it as a navigator too, but I don't know if they make booster seats for monkey that will fit down into those race seats you have. Not to mention the 5 point harness.

The key will be a 90mm intake and TB combo. In compression alone there is about 30rwhp more than my last set up but the cam lift is a bit on the low side. Peak #'s dont really mean poop to me, its the area under the curve that I am after.
