Default What is the absolute best first step is suspension mods

Ok I have a 98 convertible with all factory suspension factory 17's and bfg 275 40 17 drag radials Im looking to lower my 60' times right now they are 1.95 to the 2.1 range . I know factory wheels weigh a ton but I need to make them work for now. Where do I start on suspension? Absolute first puschase to improve short times. Oh, and Im not againt things like removing front sway bar so if thats a good idea throw it out there.

Thanks

I wouldstart with:

Subframe connectors to stiffen up the car.
Lower Control Arms to help plant the tires.
LCA relocation brackets
Dump the front sway bar
Then look at shocks and a TA.

Just my .02

The best way:
-lca's
-front drag shocks
-remove front swaybar
(not sure about lowering brackets in back, i have no experience)

The low buck way:
-rear v6 springs from a 1996 or older V6. car will squat a ton more, but this is a mod for someone who will not get drag shocks.

IMHO the best first mod is ET Street radials.....wayyyyyy better than bfg's. You may reach your goal easily with tires only.

i believe 'verts have sub frame connectors of some sort from the factory, yes? have to see how those would or wouldn't get in the way of doing a beefy aftermarket set.

good LCA's, great investment. ditch the front sway bar for sure. cheap mod is to get the comp 3 way adjustable rear shocks and put themo n 50/50, big improvement over stock shocks.

hal's up front..but be sure to get R series with a heavy vert car..the front will want to slam back down hard after you hit it out of the hole, will want R series to help with that.

well I just ditched the sway bar , hoping for good weight transfer. The damn thing only weighed like 5 lbs, hollow? though for sure it would be 20 #'s ahhhhh well tonight we will see. What about a few gallons of race gas? help or no oh and I do have a htpp3 now I just use this for shift points and firmness and I was goin to use it when I get my 3:73's in. Should I try the power program just for the hell of it or just skip it? Opinions please my gut obviously says skip it thats why I never installed it. Thanks

Did you tune the carwith the cam? If so don't use the programmer. I would skip the race gas as well.

SFC for Verts are a good investment. Yes the do have a half assed one in there from the factory but not as good as aftermarket. We are putting in a set next week.
