Default Fuel Pressure question

Thinking *out loud* here and looking for suggestions or comments.

OK, still plugging away at figuring out my SES/DTC problem. I have recently started getting rich banks 1 AND 2 instead of just bank 1. See "Puzzling Problem" thread for gory details.

Checked fuel pressure again tonight. Engine off it is 47 PSI, the upper limit.
Running it is 48-49 PSI at idle. Not right, should be 44-37 according to my spec shhet.
I'm thinking regulator or fuel return line. Fuel return checks out visually. What are the odds it's plugged? Not sure how to check that w/o special GM tools. Errgh.
I'm betting the regulator. I no longer have a functional vacuum pump to check regulator function, but I can confirm vacuum at the line.

So, I'm thinking my best bet is to replace the regulator. Opinions?

Thanks!

You should be able to blow air thru the return to verify that it's not plugged. Just take the gas cap off and have someone listen for returning air. I would suspect the regulator more than the return though. Should be something relatively simple like this.

Should drop down in the mid to high 30s at idle

I have seen a few of those go bad. usually from sitting long periods...like waiting for a trans or some thing

I got one laying aroun i think

Let me know

Might be best if you drive up and get it

Ahh, great idea Bill, thanks!
Last night I had different ideas running through my head to check that return line, but never that one. Thanks.

Is it worth getting an adjustable?

I was up last Friday night and part of Saturday. Couldn't stay, and plan on coming up again (mom inlaw did NOT go to Alaska) within the next 4 weeks. Saw mom - did you see her on the news? I was there while they taped an interview with her (1 of 2). Fox did about a 5 minute segment on her and the theft ring that used to be next door (now a vacant lot, heh) Saturday night. It even played down here Sunday.

Blah, blah, blah, I'll call you.
