Default knocking noise

I have a 2000 TA. I was at the track a week ago and after one of my races I noticed a knocking noise. The noise seemed to be coming from the front of the motor. Any ideas to what could be causing this knock? I checked the oil and that seems fine. Could it possibly be something to do with the crank?

is it a knock or a tick? you can pull the valvecovers and check the pushrods, this is always the first place, and easiest place, to look. also one of the most infamous.

is your car a 6 speed or auto?

It's definitely a knock not a tick. The car is a six speed.

Did you drive it home from the track or tow it?

I had the car towed out of there because I was afraid of possibly cracking the block or doing some other damage.
