Default Getting traction on the street

Ive just now got into modding my car and went to the drag strip for the first time last week. This was the first time I think I have ever disabled TCS. With TCS on my 60' was terrible with a 2.3 with it off I had to learn to feather the throttle and had a 2.9, 2.6, 2.2 it was getting better just need some practice.

My question is, for those if you with 400+hp and run slicks at the track how do you get traction when racing from a dig? I have a 3500 TC getting put in and it just seems like its going to be useless on the street if I cant smash it from 0rpm how am I going to launch at 3500 anywhere but the strip?

Also have headers and a F13 cam going in, it just seems like Im not going to have any traction at all with the 275/40/17 555r's. Sorry for the rant haha, just never realized how much of an art form launches were until I disabled TCS.

It's all in the tire. What tire were you using? What tire pressure?
A4's are easier to launch than M6's.

You don't need slicks to have good 60's. Nitto,BFG or MT Drag Radials work pretty darn well. 18psi, heat them up decently and you're good to go. Ask A4 guys what they do in terms of footwork.

Tire, chassis, weight distribution, weight transfer. The same principles apply, but the contact surface changes.

I was using falken 451s, but I have 2 nitto 555rs on the way since I only put about 12-15k a year on my car as a daily driver they should last me almost a year per set.

I guess its just because Im new but I can't really tell a good launch from a decent one, I cant really feel the tires spinning sometimes even when they are (not full spinning just like spinning through a gear etc...). Just no where to really get practice cept the drag strip then you get used to that and it doesn't work on the street.

Will nitto's really make the difference over spinning completely out at 1000rpm and being able to launch at 3500 rpm? It seems the TC is useless if you cant stall to 3500 and floor it, any other advice from some A4 guys with TCs?

TIA

I spin alot. Traction is not good when I slam the gas pedal. When you press on the gas and you see your rpms staying at 3 or 4 a couple or more seconds then you are more likely spinning. I should add this is with out going wot at time, it's not fun, sometimes. Again look at the rpms, and study how they react.

Never ever use the traction control. Keep it turned off for a race. It kills the car.
