Default RPM Questions from a newbie

I have a 99 B4C, its automatic. This is the first LS1 car Ive ever owned. Ive had many, many LT1 cars. My question is with the way these automatics shift. Do you have to drive it different? The other day I took it out, and slammed on the gas at about 75mph, the speed went up fast, but the RPMS did to. The car hit the rev limiter fast and started to spudder. How do you drive a automatic, without maxing out the RPMs?? Doing only about 85-90 and can't go faster because of high rpms wasn't what I expected of a LS1...any help would be appreciated!

I called AZ automasters today. They said they'll check it out. They said the tranny may be slipping. I guess my question is, if the trans needs to be rebuilt, is it worth having them beef it up? I see they offer different HP level transmissions, whats the advantage of having them beef it up vs fixing it but keeping it stock?

Think what your plans for the car are. If you're going to leave it stock then you really dont need a upgraded tranny. Although if you will doing serious mods you will want the upgraded. Personally I'd get a upgraded one or switch to a 6-speed.

If it needs to be rebuilt and it sounds like it should I would beef it up you can't go wrong with making it better.

Yea Im going to beef it up. I wanted a 6 speed, but honestly can't see a reason to do it accept to have a 6 speed. Driving a 6 speed LS1 must be fun, but I can't see spending thousands to do it. Unless someone knows someone that can handle the job in AZ and can do it for a reasonable price. A 6 speed B4C would make the car much more valuable.

They tell me $1500 for a upgraded trans, (it needed a trans after all) anyone ever had a trans done by AZ Automasters? I heard they are really good......?
